Time to let you all in on the secret...and NO, Victoria has not been born yet.
We have decided, with Dr. Pliskow's permission, we are going to induce on January 26th (friday). The reason behind this is to get the gallbaldder out faster so that I can be me again...and eat everything in sight.
Dr. Pliskow will give us te green light in the next few days to weeks on being induced...needless to say we are ready and waiting for the green light...but scared *&^%less. There is just something about being responsible for a whole nother person and having to push it out of you...isn't there an easier way to this birth thing? I mean, come on, we can send people to the moon, but not make birth easy and fun???
No, really, we are looking forward to meeting this kid. It will be nice to be able to back away when she kicks instead of backing away while she is still on the inside...kind of pointless, but funny to watch.
I am hoping that she keeps the same sleep schedule she has now. When mommy goes to bed, she fusses for a few minutes, then settles in for the night. She is up during the day, usually under the ribs for enjoyment (hers, not mine)and moving around from one side to the other. I do wish that I had an ultrasound machine so that i knew what body part was what, so far it's all guesses.
There are many days when I still can't believe that by St. Patrick's day there wil be 3 of us...and that goes for Easter and Mother's day and Father's day and all the other great holidays coming up. Oh what joy there is to be had.
Ok, so the stork just delivered some more goodies. Coupons. I never knew how many coupons there were to be had. I mean, we have them for cloths, cribs, diapers, wipes, shoes, college (just kidding) and we get lots of them including samples galore. The only problem we have is keeping track of everything...like where did I put them. I mean, I have a hard time finding my keys everyday and I put them in the same spot, now you are asking me to find coupons I got in the mail last week, that's asking a lot of me, especially now. Thankgoodness for Michael. He walks behind me and takes notes on where I put things, that way at least one of us has a clue as to where things are when the time comes.
Anyway, I will keep you all posted after each Dr. visit as to what may or may not be going on...keep your fingers!

One down, two to go
Yesterday (12-18-06) around 4:30pm I passed my kidney stone. I couldn't beleive the size of this thing. I look at it and wonder how any human could not only grow something like that, but pass it as well. When t did pass, my first thought was something went worng with Victoria...it was that powerful. Then I looked down and saw the rock i had been carrying around inside. Good grief.
So here is the rest of the update. Last wednesday I went into the hospital, again. THis time because I have not been able to hold anything down, including liquid. So after Dr. Pliskow ran a few tests, he discovered that there are some bad things going on in my gallbladder that was making me sick. I spent 3 days in the hospital hooked up to an iv and the fetal moniter. I was also poked in both arms, both hands and one wrist, needless to say I am very glad to be home. Once beanie is born, my gallbaldder will have to come out. So here's the schedule for next year: Baby, kidneys, and gallbladder. I will know this hospital inside and out by the time i am all done.
While I was in, I got to take another sneak peak at Victoria. She is a very good baby. She is practicing breathing...and doing it very well, she was also head down and ready to come out, which would explaine why my ribs have become the place for her to stretch into. If you are wondering, nothing going on with me is affecting her. Victoria is in her own little protected world and quite happy. She has been moving around a lot, I am still waiting for the day when i look down and see body parts sticking out. Mostly you just see small bumps moving, but nothing that you can tell what body part it is.
Still can't believe my kidney stone is finally out....wow!

Baby on board-literally
Jenna Meaker posted "This is what life is all about, this is happiness. Now I know."
There is one thing that comes to mind with this and it comes from a song:
" we stand in aw, we created life". I look down all the time to watch my belly bounce and wiggle and move and I still can't believe that there are only 68 more days to go before i meet this new bundle of joy face to face.
It all seems so unreal. There are a lot of things yet to be done, like diapers, pack for the hospital, buy a car seat, some of these things can wait, like the diapers, but still. I am a very impatient person, I want everything to be done yesterday, the only thing that I can't rush is this baby. I have been reading many many books and most of them tell me that it is normal to be scared and confused. Confused I can do, I am usually in a state of confusion, that's nothing new, but the scared thing...I can't do. i don't like Halloween for this very reason. It's hard to imagine that in a few short weeks (weeks, did someone say weeks...uh...time out, I'm not ready)I will be responsible for someone else. Ok, sure I've had some practice, I do have a cat a dog and a husband, but still.
I am ready for this kid and anything she can throw at me...or throw UP at me. I look at the clothes she now has and I am amazed that something that BIG could be growing inside. Then again, I am amazed that I don't fall over half the time (the other half of the time I understand why I fall over all the time...I'm clumsy). I am ready for the war of the body to be over...then again...does she really have to come out, I mean, the pain, the pushing, the no eating until she does come out...not even a cheeseburger, come on now people. Women in labor should have anything they want. But alas, to be able to sleep again without water, tums, going pee every 2 hours and only being able to sleep on one side...this I am ready for...FREEDOM.
Now I understand...the happiness, the joy and the sensation of being kicked in the butt from the inside...ah parenthood, what a wonderful thing.
So as Christmas aproaches, I applaud the women who have gone through this and lived to tell about it. You are amazing people...especially if you have done this more than once...you deserve the nobel peace prize.
If you are still reading, please forgive the babeling...sleep deprivation tends to do that to you. Now I know why so many women fall asleep for short time periods during labor...the drugs and the need for sleep, did I mention the drugs?
and the countdown continues....

Small Miracles for Mommy
As I have mentioned many times before, I am fighting a kidney stone that won't go away. In the process, it has made me naucious every day all day. I gave in and called my OB to see if there was anything they could do for me. And there is...a small magic white pill. It takes away that awful sick feeling, almost instantly. I feel human again, well, except for the peeing and the indigestion.
The side affects include...headaches, itchy skin, and peeing...so how will I tell if I have any of the side affects? I already have all those. Ha ha ha
One of the other miracles that I received came from a good friend and fellow new mom, Danielle. She gave me a kit called Mama Mio (I recommend this to all new mothers, the ob should hand these out the day you find out you are pregnant). THis kit includes: Belly oil rub, boob tube, lotion, and body wash and to top it all off, a great smelling candle to help you relaxe. I don't know what I would have done without any of these creams. You put the belly oil on...and the belly no longer itches, smae with the boops. Oh what a relief that is. Do you have any idea how embarassing it can be to be in ublic and constantly rubbing either your boops(though I have gotten some offers of help int at area) or your tummy? People think you are diseased or you just like to feel yourself up all the time...either way they avoid you.
I have also found a use for my boppy, I can sleep on my tummy with it. Oh how nice that was when I disovered I could do that. I have never been so happy to lay down in my whole life.
79 days and counting...

Huh???
See if you can figure this one out...
In the last trimester, you pee...a lot. I get up on average of 6-10 times a night depending on how much I drink each time i get up. I am also fighting a kidney stone, yes it refuses to pass...stubborn little thing that it is. I may also have gestational diabeties.
I did some research to see what the signs are for diabities, gestational or otherwise, and it says that you will be peeing...a lot. So, how do you tell if you have diabeties...or a kidney stone (other than the pain) and if you are in the third trimester?
They all have the same symptoms...PEE. Even my cat is amazed at how much I am in the bathroom. She has stopped following me in...partly because I never give her any treats, unless she has been good. The dog ont he other hand loves it. She comes in with me in hopes that I will not pay attention long enough for her to eat all the cat food she can. (never happens)
Tests, tests and more tests. I have been poked in each arm, each hand and even in the butt (that as the greatest shot I have ever gotten) and it's not over yet.

On solid ground
I never realized how much I loved my messy home until I was away from it for almost 2 weeks. I had 2 wonderful baby showers ( so now I am nice and clean). Both Michael and I were able to spend some much needed time with family and friends. It was hard to say good-bye to everyone, but boy do i miss home. Our bed, the dog, the cat, cable (sorry mom) even the heat. Yes, sadly enough, I missed the heat. Though it was great to stand outside in both California and NY in cold weather and relish the fact that I wasn't shivering...I was comfy.
Michael did something I never thought he would do, he went sailing with his dad while I was at my baby shower. They both survived...and had a great time. I did make sure that Michael's life insurance was up to date before they left.
now is the time that I have to unpack, do the laundry and take naps, lot and lots of naps. I am still waiting for the nesting bug to bite...at this point i am in serious doubt that it ever will. I keep walking by Victoria's room and all I see are all those clothes and towels and wash cloths and what nots that have to be washed and put away. how silly is this, I unpack the things that either we bought or we got at the baby showers, bring them upstairs, take the tags of ( then again I have to do that anyway) and put everything away. It finally occured to me that I will eventually have to bring all these things back downstairs to wash them and then put them away again. Talk about redundant.
On the flip side, bringing everything upstairs forces me to realize that because this house has no linen closets, I have to come up with creative ways to store everything and not make her room look like a baby store blew up in it. Have no worries, I have lots of ideas, I'm just too lazy and too tired to actually do them...right along with the laundry, the dishes and everything else that should be done. Michael has been great, though. He takes out the trash, does the dishes and even helps with the laundry. he has even started to come home during lunch to do some light cleaning, provided I make him lunch...no problem there.
and baby grows on and on and oh my godam I having a baby or a basketball? Must be a baby...basketballs don't move around this much and kick, nor do they make your tummy lop sided and hard as a rock. love it. Still waiting to see the foot or hand form the wrong side of the belly appear. I just hope we can catch it on film...boy will tht make for a great story in her baby book!!!

up, up and away
Here we all are in Rochester, NY, just hanging out and watching the snow. I took Baby out to show her the snow, she didn't seem interested in it...could be because she can't see it, maybe not. I know I was impressed by it.
Victoria is practicing her flips during the day. She likes to try to kick both sides of the belly. Most of the time it's funny to watch, then there are other times I think she does it because she can. I swear I can hear her laughing at me, then again it could be all those voices in my head...I can never tell.
As she is now bigger and can feel the force of take off and landing, I have to tell you, it's great to be the bigger person during both. She likes to kick during the flight, but I get the last laugh...during landing, she has nothing to hold onto except the cord...which moves with her. So I get a break from kicking and briefly have more room to stuff my face, unfortunatly I am too busy laughing because she can't kick me, but beleive me she makes up for it on the ride to our final destination.
As the good bye tour winds down, I am forced to say farwell to alot of great people, all of whom I am going to miss. There is going to be one wonderful first this year, that I will miss, shared by two people...NOT SANTA and Rudolph, no I am talking about Jeffrey and EJ (Ethan James). Though Jeffrey had a rough start earlier this year, he and EJ will be celebrating their first Thanksgiving (mmmmmm turkey and gravy and stuffing oh yumm) and Christmas(lots of presants....please).
I want to say that I will miss all of you, but as always, I will keep you up to date with the life of Victoria as things come up..or kick out or shout out or what ever seems to happen.
One thing I have to say is that though being pregnant has been rough because of all the travel and fighting kidney stones, it's pretty cool. There are days when she gets the hiccups and again, I find myself laughing at her...but then she gets even by standing on my bladder, laughing while I make a mad dash for the bathroom. This kid is gonna be just like me...I can't wait, life will be great!

Practice makes perfect
As some of you may know, I am a kidney stone producer, have been most of my adult life. Recently (like today) one of the stones decided to come out and play. this posses a problem. First off, my urologist won't treat me because I am pregnant, the second issue is they hurt like there is no tomorrow and I can't take the good drugs to block out the pain. No, they don't give you an epidural for kidney stones...I asked, the dr. laughed at me.
The good thing about kidney stones (yes, there is a good side to them, If you can imagine that) is that I treat them like practice runs for labor. I have been told that kidney stones are way worse than labor...mainly because the pain doesn't come in waves that you can see coming on the moniter at the hospital, instead it is a constant pain that seems (at times) to never go away. I drink lots of water and walk, alot, to help the stone on its merry way out, the other nice thing is all the walking and rocking I do to get through the pain is enough to put me to sleep. Imagine that, i stand there rocking through the pain and put myself to sleep...how silly is that. Even the cat takes a nap with me.
We are down to one final trip, the good-bye tour, as I am calling it. the first trip to NY was great. Nana got to meet her granddaughter, well, so to speak. The baby got a kick (literally) out of Nana. She ( the baby) also got to hear other voices, other than my big mouth, which I am sure she was very thankful for. I got to spend some quality time with family and friends, something I know I will miss after peanut arrives.
Anyway, time to go walking again...silly stones.

Free Entertainment
You know, I have to tell you, the coolest things so far is watching my belly bounce as baby kicks her heart out.
She can kick he keft side and the whole thing moves...either she's really strong or there is just a lot of fat that gets moved around, either way it's neat to watch.
She has learned a new trick ( one for which my mom is very happy with as I did this to her), she likes to get under the ribs and kick or just rest some part of her body.
There was one night i yelled at the cat to settle down and go to sleep (she likes to sleep at the end of the bed) I looked down and she was looking back at me with a disgusted look because I had just woken her up. She was sleeping in the dogs bed we keep by the bedroom door. I can't beleive it, the baby kicked hard enough to not only wake me up, but shake the whole bed. I often wonder ( more and more recently) how Michael gets any sleep with all the bumping going on.
I do like to play with her, though. I know that sounds odd, but it's true. She kicks me and I poke her back, which only encourages her to kick harder and in the same spot, go figure. If she kicks hard enough to jiggle the whole belly, I shake back and forth. I try to do this just before bed so that she is "tired" by the time I am ready to go to sleep and I can sleep for a few hours before either she wakes up or the indigestion gets me...sometimes they get me all at the same time.
Only 98 more days to go before she can kick me from the outside instead of the inside, can't wait.
Tiem for bed so I can get a few hours in before she gets up and starts her exercise routine...ha ha ha

Baby Shower...
This was the easiest way I could think of to get the word out....
If you are planning on attending the baby shower in NY on 11-11-06...and you are wondering what to do with your gift (especially is it's either heavy or big)...please, feel free to bring it to the party. What I can't bring on the plane will be shipped home the following week.
I will be in town from 11-6-06 to 11-12-06 and returning with Michael on 11-17 and leaving the day before Thanksgiving, so I will have plenty of time to ship things home.
If you do have any questions, please feel free to ask...if need be and you still can't decide...send it to Florida. Whatever is easiest for you.
Can't wait to see all of you!

The Dad
Dear Complaints Department-
Oh my aching back, indigestion that never goes away, sleeplessness, being tired all the time...does it ever end?
I know that it does and I know that this is all for a great cause...bringing a life into this world. One I can't wait to meet. I had no idea when people said that their back ached during the last 3-4 months of pregnancy that it could be this uncomfortable.
As many of you know, Michael and I have been traveling alot and will continue to do so until after thanksgiving. i have to tell you that being stuck on a plane for more than 10 minutes is pure tourture. There is no comfy position either to sit or to sleep ( which is all I do on flights, sleep). The nice thing is we can pre-board and get the better seats, which is very nice. The flight staff is also extra nice to us and very understanding when the seatbelt sign is on and I am making a dash to the bathroom.
My shirts are starting to get way too tight...even the big ones, so I have put them away until next year when to me they will be all new again. I am into full maternity gear. I thought all the books and people were kidding when people told me that they got tired of wearing the maternity clothes every day, I thought...how bad can it be?...well, when you have pairs of pants and 10 shirts that you love to wear, you learn to love them and to do laundry every few days.
There is one thing I am looking forward to washing...baby clothes, I know that there will be alot of them, but think of how many you can wash in one load compared to our clothes. My goodness, you can wash the whole dresser of baby clothes compared to one week worth of our clothes. WOW.
For those of you that may be wondering...no, there is nothing in Victoria's room yet, except the shell of a crib, 2 blankets, a dresser and some curtains. There are clothes in the dresser, much to my happiness. I have to resist the urge to wash them every day. I know that I have plenty of time to get that all done, but still...
Funny, I couldn't wait to start our family...now I am scared to death and wish that time could stand still for a few more months. The nice thing is...I have lots of friends to help when I have questions...like what to wear to the hospital and what diapers work the best and do they always drool that much?
It always feels like we have lots of time to prepare for baby to come home, but I know time is slowly running out...hoooray!

And the belly grows on...

Just a quick note and a picture to show you the ever growing belly. As i may have mentioned, Victoria is practicing her Irish folk dancing at night...I guess me laying on the tummy gives her a nice flat area to practice on. I am going to miss sleeping on my tummy, I know it's just a matter of time.
Other than that, all things are going well. Her kicks are getting stronger, though no hiccups yet, can't wait for that to happen...just to watch the belly bounce for a few moments.
anyway, off to bed we go. Good Night!

Missing in Action
As I got dressed this morning, I realized that I am missing a few body parts. They were there last month so I don't understand where they went.
Things missing:
Belly Button
Knees
half of my feet
ankles (only on rare occassions)
After having a wonderful and inspiring chat with Dani and Brian, wonderful friends of mine, i was informed that this is normal. I guess I didn't realize that parts would go missing so soon.
Everyday I wake up and take inventory of the things that I can still see...which isn't that hard. I can still see my toes, so I know that somewhere down there are my feet, hopefully, otherwise I would be walking funny!
It's all worth it, the less I can see over the belly, the bigger I know Victoria is getting. I can't wait to meet her, I am sure that i have said that alot, but I can't. The kicks are great, they let me know she's there and wants to say hello, I'm up! ah the joys of parenthood, even before they are born. I can see why pregnant women glow, they are just excited...about everything!

What's in a name?
Some of you may be wondering how we came up with the name Victoria Ann Brugger...
Well, Michael and I went through a list of over 800 names from the Social Security website of the most popular names for 2005.
After 2 hours of knocking off names, we came up with a list of around 20 or so, then down to the ones each of us liked. Michael created a spread sheet and created a formula to figure out how popular the names would be this year into next, after that we called the president to get his opinion, he then waited for an answer from congress to come through.
So after all that we came up with the name Victoria Ann. We wanted something that would be powerful and something that she could grow with. Like Vikki to Victoria. Though for the moment I have taken to calling her little one or peanut, but I know that all parents have nicknames for their kids. For instance, my mom calls me Boo, whereas my uncle calls me poopers...and NO I will not tell you why, I am sure you can figure that out for yourself.
Anyway, that's how Victoria got her name.

Things that go thump in the belly
I may have had to guess in the past on the thumps that I was feeling, well, that time has past.
Victoria has now become my time clock. She kicks first thing in the morning to get me up for breakfast, then again for lunch, then last thing at night before bed.
It's rather amusing to laydown and watch your belly bounce with each kick. Michael has taken to talking to her at night, that seems to calm her down a little faster, I have a feeling she will be daddy's little girl. He's doomed.
As holloween is rapidly approaching, Michael and I are discussing what we are going to be. He will be his normal scary self, while I only have one choice. Ragedy Ann, yes that little doll in the dress with the red hair and the white hat. This is my only option as i won't buy another costume, so this is the only one that i can fit at this stage of the pregnancy. Though the other option we came up with is painting my belly into a pumpkin and wearing a belly shirt for the day to show it off. I may still do that, I just won't leave the house that day! ha ha ha
I look forward to holloween next year, Victoria will be here to join us...oh the outfits we can put her in!

The answer to the BIG question

Is Jr a boy or a girl. Well, before I answer that let me tell you that everything is fine. Jr weighed in at 11 oz. All of the bones measured as they should along with the heart. Though jr had some fun with the tech. She wanted to take some pictures of jr's hand and jr refused to move the hand...even after being jiggled.
Now, since you are all waiting very patiently to know what jr really is...
the answer is:
Jr is a girl, yes folks, Michael and I are having a girl and we are very happy. After a vry long list of names, say around 800 or so, we have decided to name her Victoria. We are looking forward to welcoming Victoria into the world sometime early next year.

Results part one
Just wanted to let all of you know that we got the results back from the downs syndrom test. Jr is just fine.
I did find out something interesting while we were in Vegas and California. Jr likes chinese food. I had it for dinner then for a very early lunch the next day and have been craving it ever since, who knew.
Jr also seems to like Cirque and chocolate covered strawberries...a kid after my own heart.
Wish I had more to tell all of you, but that's it. There are no aches and pains to mention, though I will spare you some of the gross things going on, I am sure none of you want to know about them, heck, even I don't want to know.
next time I post will be to announce the answer to the big question " What are you having? a boy or a girl?" We will also find out if i am right that jr is a boy.

Waiting and waiting and waiting...
I went to the Dr's office this morning for the Downs Syndrom test, we will get the results back on Monday, unfortunatlly we will be in Vegas when the results are in. As for what Jr actually is will remain a mystery for another 2 weeks. I wanted to get in for the level 2 ultra sound by the end of the week, but the office that I have to go to is packed full. They are taking people starting next week, we of course won't be here.
So wait we must. And I thought getting the results for a positive pregnancy test where hard. This is tourture.
Jr's room is all ready for him or her. The room has been painted, the crib is put together, though there is no bed or sheets or bumper, but hey, it's there. I added clouds and animals to the walls of the nursery. Looks good, simple, but it can grow with Jr.
As for me, I am getting bigger by the day, which is fine. a few of my normal shirts are getting a good stretch as the belly grows. I have done very well witht he weight gain. I have not given into most of the cravings I've gotten. Though today I had to break down and by some chocolate chip cookie dough. I have been craving that for 6 days now... I had to give in. I was starting to dream about cookie dough dancing down the stairs, something had to give.
Many of you can understand when I say I can't wait to meet this kid face to face, but I am in no hurry. I love being pregnant, so far. I can deal with the indigestion and the food cravings. I love to watch the belly grow, but I am oh so ready to meet this child and welcome him or her into the world. Catch 22.
Almost sad to know that in 3 weeks we will be half way through the pregnancy. We are going to take a tour of the local hospital sometime in October or November. That is something that I am looking forward to...do women in the delivery room really scream that loud and can you really hear them in the next room? Yes, these are things that I want to know. That way I know to bring ear plugs. ha ha ha Just kidding.
Anyway, the next time we post I will be able to tell you what Jr's actual name is. Can't wait.

Belly Pictures have arrived!

Many of you have been asking for pictures of the ever growing belly, here is the 4th month picture. Just a quick update, I now know why they call it morning sickness. It feels as if I am back in the first trimester. I have to pee all the time and eat every few hours...even when i do I feel ill afterwards, but hey, it's all worth it in the end. I am ready for anything.
We have updated the Wish list for Babies "R" Us. I got way to trigger happy while we were there looking at cribs and strollers and such. I think even Michael was surprised at how much we put on there, oh well.
Jr will be making his or her first cross country flight in a few weeks. We are heading out to Las Vegas for a week of fun in sin city. I can't wait to go. By the time Jr is born, he or she will have no fear of flying as we are traveling september, october and twice in november. Too bad I can't get frequent flyer miles for two...ha ha ha.
Anyway, enjoy the picture. It's not all that great, but I finally got it done!

It's Alive
just thought that I would let all of you know that Jr has started to move around. I felt jr for the first time today...
As many of you will understand this...It caught me off guard. I thought it was gas or I have no idea what, but then it stayed in the same spot for a few momens. Then I tought it could be a muscle spasm...but nope, it's jr letting me know everything is going well and he is alive an kicking.
I wish I could tell you what the exact feeling is, but as many people have said, it's very hard to describe. To say that I am excited to feel this would be an understatement. I have literally stoped i the middle of a conversation to feel the "quickening". Even beore this child is born I am putting things on hold to give him/her all my attention.
I can't wait until Jr is big enough for Michael to feel the kicks and wiggles...I can't wait to share this with the other love of my life. The first hello from his first child.
happy thoughts and peaceful dreams-
Good Night

3 weeks and waiting
Here we are at the start of the 15th week, we have 3 weeks to go before we can go for the level 2 ultrasound, needless to say we are both very anxious to find out what jr is.
In the meantime, we are slowly preparing for jr's arrival. Michael spent today cleaning out the nursery room. No, we have not painted it yet, but we do know what we are going to do with it. Blue walls, white chair rail and little cartoon animals walking along the wall, yah, real entertaining.
We had received some baby clothes from a good friend of mine, and fellow parent, Jenna Meeker, for which I am very thankful for. I finally got around to putting them away. As I was, I still can't believe that we are preparing for the arrival of our first child. There are many days when I still feel like a child myself, and yes, many of you would agree with that, go ahead, you know you do.
We bought a heart listener from Baby’s R Us on Friday. You are supposed to be able to hear the heartbeat of your unborn child, needless to say I spend a lot of time trying to find it, only to come to the realization that Jr is too small for this thing to pick up, but that does not stop me from trying...every day!
While I am listening for Jr’s heartbeat, I hear a lot of other things. Then it occurs to me that all those noises are me, god how does this kid sleep with all that noise. I mean, it sounds like a war going on in there. Things moving and shifting...poor kid, no wonder they sleep for the first few weeks, they are recovering from lack of sleep from the first 9 months with mom. I'd be cranky too if someone kept me up for 9 months.
Many of you have been asking for a belly photo...it's on its way...eventually...maybe.
Anyway, that's all for now! Night Night

Baby's first trip
I recently made trip to New York City with a friend of mine. There is nothing like sitting in a car for 19 hours to really get to know your friends. We left Wednesday afternoon and made it to the city around 8pm on Thursday. Jr, as I have affectionately named the baby, did wonderfully. Though I was a bad mother, on the trip up, I fed Jr McDonalds cheeseburgers and french fries...he/she seems to like my choice of food, got no complaints (everything stayed down). Once we got into the city, Sarah and I discovered this great little breakfast place that serves hash browns, eggs, bacon/sausage and toast, usually with some milk or orange juice. This became the place for breakfast every day. We could sit and watch the people rush by, the tourists with maps, the families, people rushing off to work and all those billboards.
While we were in Ny City, we saw the Empire state building, the statue of Liberty, NY Stock Exchange, Ground Zero and jr's favorite part, central park...there was a carousel there, though we did not stop to ride it, we did enjoy a slow ride through Central Park.
The weather was amazing. Blue skies and comfortable temps. While we were walking around, we passed the Gap store, so we went inside to look around. Sarah found these cute onesies. One says "I love daddy" the other one said "back seat driver" can't wait until Jr is big enough to fit into both outfits.
At this stage of Jr’s life, he/she has seen just as many plays as I have, scary huh?
We saw Avenue Q (this was described by Bill as the avenue over from Sesame Street), then we saw Lieutenant of Inishmal and on Sunday we saw Beauty and the Beast, needless to say we had a very busy few days, but what an amazing time.
We said good-bye to the big apple bright and early Monday morning, around 5:30am. Once we were out of NJ, we decided that we could make it home, so we drove 18 hours straight and made it home around 11:45pm. 12229 miles door to door. We were all very excited to be home.
By the time this child is born he or she will have been to 12 states, too bad I can’t get frequent flier miles for two!

9 is the magic number
I went for the first blood test screening last Thursday (7-27-06). This screening tested me for HIV, Hep C and B, blood type, if it positive or negative, anti-bodies and hormone levels.
This last one is the most important one for me as I know that I am clear for the rest of the tests. The results were supposed to be in on Friday...well, today is August 2nd and we finally got the results back...
Everything is fine. All the levels are where they should be, in other words, the baby is progressing just as he or she should be. After the small bump in the road we had for the second visit, this was a great relief to know. I feel for the nursing staff at my ob's office. I called them everyday to see if the results were in. Since I don't have any physical signs to let mw know that all is ok...the blood test is a fail safe way to know that all is well.
Sometime in September I will be going for the level 2 ultrasound to measure the bone length and check what our odds are for downs syndrome. We will also find out the sex of the baby. Yes, we want to know what the sex of the baby is and no...we can't wait.
I can't wait to "pop" either. Though I have to tell you, I went maternity top shopping and I found one thing in common...if there is either no bump or a small bump...these shirts make you look like and walking umbrella from the waist up. While I was in the dressing room, I actually spun around like a little girl in her Sunday dress...and that's what it looked like. Though I will be the first to admit how comfy they are to have on...all the room...aaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
If only everything was that comfortable

Music to our ears..
Today was the second month check up.
The moment has arrived. Dr. Pliskow put the microphone up to my belly and attempted to find the baby’s heart beat. There was only one problem...mine was beating too fast and to loud, so I had to calm down. All this excitement and we couldn't hear the baby’s heart beat. Then came the most glorious sound I have ever heard...bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb. The heart beat. Strong and steady... Everything is on track. The heart beat sounds great, the ultrasound looks great, I’m not gaining too much weight, which is amazing considering all the stuff I seem to be eating. Kind of like being on a seafood diet...I see food, I eat it. Even the dog seems to be amazed at how much food I seem to eat. She has become very protective over her food dish.
Michael and I are very happy to hear the heart beat to know that everything is alright. For those of you that have gone through this you will understand when I say I don't feel pregnant, so hearing the heartbeat lets me breathe a sigh of relief.
The next checkup is August 18th. The ultrasound will follow shortly after that. That is when we will find out if it a boy or a girl. Can’t wait either way!
Good night everyone.

ZZZZZZZZ......and more zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ok, so every book i've read has informed me that I will be tired during the first trimester. What they don't tell you is that you can sleep for 2 days, straight through and still be dead tired. I even found out that I can fall asleep during meals. Now that's funny to watch. I can be in the middl eof a sentance and be out cold.I understand why it happens, though. Your body is using all the energy you had stored up from those lazy weekends to help your new bundle of joy grow.
I was home for part of the morning today because I couldn't drag my tired butt out of bed. When I did finally get up, I decided to watch a baby story and bringing home baby. I gotta tell you, I can't wait. One of the first questions we get asked when we tell people we are pregnant is " what do you want...a boy or a girl?" Our response...it doesn't matter, as long as it's healthy. We do have a name picked out for both...and no, I am not going to share it with you.
Michael is doing well. He is happily waiting for the 2nd month ob visit next wednesday. We are hoping to be able to hear the heart beat during this visit. He clears his schedule for the entire afternoon just so he can make the dr appt each month...and be on time. I am so proud of him.
ok, nap time has come again. good night to all!

To be or not to be...
I went to the second month checkup last night. They bring me in the back and ask me to pee in the cup...I can't. The nurse thought this was funny, then again, so did I. I had just gone before I left for the doctors office, but we all know that within a matter of minutes, I would have to go. So she put me in one of the rooms and I waited for the doctor to come in and see me.
When Dr. Pliskow comes in, he leaves me again to go get the results from the first ultrasound. This is when it starts to sound bad, very bad. He looks at the ultrasound picture and says that the pregnancy shold be farther along than it looks in the picture and all he can see is the sack, no baby.
I was asked to go have an emergency ultrasound to see if he is correct, or if things are going as planned. So, I haul butt out to Royal Palm beach (about 15-20 minute ride in rushhour traffic) I made it there in 10 minutes flat.
The tech brings Michael and I both back ( I called him on route and he was able to meet me there for suport) into the back room for the ultrasound. As we hold our breath, we hear those very sweet and happy words " I see a heartbeat, and it's strong". I have her repeat the words so I can make sure i heard her correctly.
Everything is fine. The baby is right where he/she should be. The sack looks great, the heart beat was at 127 beats which is what it should be. Though I did think that it was funny that the baby was upside down so early, Judi, the tech, laughed and said she had the probe upside down, so she turned it right side up and we all just sat there for a few minutes and watched the babys heart beat. What an amazing and wonderful sight that is to watch.
I figured that if this is the only thing to go wrong for the next 6 1/2 months, then life is great. Michael and I are both doing well and very excited. I will have to reschedule my doctors appointment, I am hoping when I go this time I will be able to hear the heartbeat instead of just seeing it. Anyone got a tape recorder?
Anyway, we are off for my company picnic..fun in the rain? yes, it's ging to rain all weekend, so if you have sunshine tis weekend, consider yourself lucky!
Happy to be a mom!

Second month, here we come...
We have officialy left the first month and are well on our way through the second month. Finally. Things are going well. I have noticed that my pants are starting to get a bit snug...and I know that they will only get more snug from here on out.
I go for the second month check up this afternoon, I am looking forward to it. Just to know that all is going well and that things are moving along as they should...though I am not looking forward to standing on the scale. That should be outlawed when you are expecting.
I can't wait to hear the heartbeat for the first time or for the first flutter. What I can wait for is losing sight of my feet. I like being able to see my feet everyday, as a matter of fact I usually look down at them 2-3 times a day so i can remember what they look like when they disappear under my growing belly. Maybe i should take a pictue of them and place it on my belly when the time comes so i can still "see" them.
Anyway, I will let you all know what the doctor tells me this afternoon. I am hoping that I have not gained too much and that all things are going well.
Tata for now!
giddy but tired

It's an Alien!!!!

I went for the very first ultrasound today. I was not prepared for what i was going to see for the first time. First of all, when you are this early in the game and you laugh, the baby can't be seen. So I was playing peek-a-boo with the baby this afternoon, much to the amusement of the technition that was there.
After she located both of my ovaries, much to my happiness, she turned the screen to me and I got to see our little one for the very first time. What an amazing sight that is. To see your child for the very first time, no matter where you are in the pregnancy.
I didn't know if I should laugh or cry, so I did a little of both, then ran for the bathroom to go pee, after all, I had to drink 32 oz of water before the ultrasound.
I know that when I look back, then next 7 months will have flown by, but for right now they seem to crawl, very, very slowly.
I can't wait for all the exciting things yet to come. The first heartbeat, the next ultrasound, when we find out the sex of the baby. How exciting this all is. Michael is thrilled, though he needed a little help finding the baby in the picture, not that I have anything to say about that, I couldn't see him either the first time, though I think laughing had something to do with that.
Anyway, as par for the course, time for a nap and some water. So good-night for now!

Hormones gone wild
If having to go to the bathroom isn't bad enough, I caught myself crying at the oddest commercials. Like the charmin commercial, the puppy and the little boy are sooo cute together. Along with all the father's day commercials that have been playing.
As we start telling people, we are asked the same question: " boy or girl?" the answer to that is, we don't care, as long as he/she is healthy. I am doing everything in my power to make sure that this happens. I am getting plenty of sleep, lots of water, walking when i can, soy beans for a snack, along with plenty of fruit and veggies.
The latest craving has been spicy food, which is funny because normally I hate anything spicy, but now I can't get enogh of it. We go through a lot of nacho cheese.
We go for the first ultrasound sometime next week, I can't wait. This week, 6-12-06 we are 6 weeks along. 4 more weeks and we will be able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. That is something I can't wait for. To know that I am carrying the next generation is absolutly amazing and wonderful and scary all at the same time.
Michael is coming around to the idea of being a dad. He made his first funny comment a few days ago. We were talking about the dog and he responded to me with " because I'm the father and I said so, and that's that!" with a huge smile on his face. He has been wonderful with things around the house. He does the dishes and the laundry, and the cat litter. My Hero! He is going to make a wonderful father, he's already been a wonderful husband.
Well, folks, nap time has come again, so sleep I must.

Congratulations, It's a pink line!

I don't think that either one of us thought that this day would come, but Michael and I are going to be parents. It was confirmed by a doctor on June 7, 2006. As of June 12, 2006 we are 6 weeks along. We are both very happy to know that we are going to be parents. When I told my mom, she ran through the halls of her office yelling "I'm gonna be a nana".
I am taking over the counter pre-natal vitamins every day along with lots of water and rest, though taking a nap has never been an issue for me. We go for the first ultrasound in the next week and a half. As soon as I have the picture I will post it for all to see. Four more weeks and we can hear the heart beat. Hard to imagine.
