way out. i was sitting under some shade relaxing (we had biked there).
My kids had wandered over to the swings and asked another mother there
to push them. She did.
Then she asked where mommy was, hearing this, i got up and walked
over. She scolded me for leaving my kids...stating that they seem to
just walk up to everyone. While this is not true, it did get me
thinking.
As parents, do we relax more than we should in an area where we feel
that are kids are safe after a certian age? Are we calmed into
thinking that parks fenced in are safe from the monsters that lurke in
the shadows?
If fenced in parks are not safe for our kids to explore on their own
while still in ear shot and a quick glance around, then where,
otherthan the house, are they safe for exploration.
i would say school, but even there the monsters lurke. Either teachers
that act inappropriatly or the bullies that roam the halls looking for
kids to target for terror.
What will the next years be like for our kids?
How safe will things be for our grandkids?
