It's an Alien!!!!

I went for the very first ultrasound today. I was not prepared for what i was going to see for the first time. First of all, when you are this early in the game and you laugh, the baby can't be seen. So I was playing peek-a-boo with the baby this afternoon, much to the amusement of the technition that was there.

After she located both of my ovaries, much to my happiness, she turned the screen to me and I got to see our little one for the very first time. What an amazing sight that is. To see your child for the very first time, no matter where you are in the pregnancy.

I didn't know if I should laugh or cry, so I did a little of both, then ran for the bathroom to go pee, after all, I had to drink 32 oz of water before the ultrasound.

I know that when I look back, then next 7 months will have flown by, but for right now they seem to crawl, very, very slowly.

I can't wait for all the exciting things yet to come. The first heartbeat, the next ultrasound, when we find out the sex of the baby. How exciting this all is. Michael is thrilled, though he needed a little help finding the baby in the picture, not that I have anything to say about that, I couldn't see him either the first time, though I think laughing had something to do with that.

Anyway, as par for the course, time for a nap and some water. So good-night for now!

Hormones gone wild

If having to go to the bathroom isn't bad enough, I caught myself crying at the oddest commercials. Like the charmin commercial, the puppy and the little boy are sooo cute together. Along with all the father's day commercials that have been playing.

As we start telling people, we are asked the same question: " boy or girl?" the answer to that is, we don't care, as long as he/she is healthy. I am doing everything in my power to make sure that this happens. I am getting plenty of sleep, lots of water, walking when i can, soy beans for a snack, along with plenty of fruit and veggies.

The latest craving has been spicy food, which is funny because normally I hate anything spicy, but now I can't get enogh of it. We go through a lot of nacho cheese.

We go for the first ultrasound sometime next week, I can't wait. This week, 6-12-06 we are 6 weeks along. 4 more weeks and we will be able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. That is something I can't wait for. To know that I am carrying the next generation is absolutly amazing and wonderful and scary all at the same time.

Michael is coming around to the idea of being a dad. He made his first funny comment a few days ago. We were talking about the dog and he responded to me with " because I'm the father and I said so, and that's that!" with a huge smile on his face. He has been wonderful with things around the house. He does the dishes and the laundry, and the cat litter. My Hero! He is going to make a wonderful father, he's already been a wonderful husband.

Well, folks, nap time has come again, so sleep I must.

Congratulations, It's a pink line!

I don't think that either one of us thought that this day would come, but Michael and I are going to be parents. It was confirmed by a doctor on June 7, 2006. As of June 12, 2006 we are 6 weeks along. We are both very happy to know that we are going to be parents. When I told my mom, she ran through the halls of her office yelling "I'm gonna be a nana".

I am taking over the counter pre-natal vitamins every day along with lots of water and rest, though taking a nap has never been an issue for me. We go for the first ultrasound in the next week and a half. As soon as I have the picture I will post it for all to see. Four more weeks and we can hear the heart beat. Hard to imagine.
