The Boy's Birthday
small crowd, but very awsome. He got some Chugginton toys, cars, lots
of sugar and lots of spoiling.
I remember the day he was born. It was heart-wrenching. All I wanted
to hear was him cry. He was born on 4-4 weighing 4-4 at 6:46am. He was
so tiny I was afrid we'd break him. i remember sleeping with him while
he was in the NICU. I'd spend all day long with beanie, then sleep at
the hospital during kangaroo care.
Last night we snuggled. he fell sleep in my arms. i know that those
days are all too quickly coming to an end. I love how he puts his head
down and run at me at full speed, laughing the whole way. How he can
ram his heading into a solid object, shake it off and keep going. how
he can take all his shots, not cry and ask for chocolate WHILE getting
his shots.
Such an amazing little man, so full of life and energy. Brave and bold
and not afriad of life.
The other birthday gift...he has a small case of pnemonia. his
reward...a nebulizer, more antibiotics and lots of rest. kid took
everything like a champ. Well, the xrays, atleast. he started the
breathing treatment tonight.
Sometimes being a parent is scary. i'm not afraid to say that I'm
scared. This is what i feared when it came to the boy. So small..so
fragile. i know he's not, but to know that something got into his
lungs that i can't protect him from and could land him in the hospital
is scary.

lax parenting?
way out. i was sitting under some shade relaxing (we had biked there).
My kids had wandered over to the swings and asked another mother there
to push them. She did.
Then she asked where mommy was, hearing this, i got up and walked
over. She scolded me for leaving my kids...stating that they seem to
just walk up to everyone. While this is not true, it did get me
thinking.
As parents, do we relax more than we should in an area where we feel
that are kids are safe after a certian age? Are we calmed into
thinking that parks fenced in are safe from the monsters that lurke in
the shadows?
If fenced in parks are not safe for our kids to explore on their own
while still in ear shot and a quick glance around, then where,
otherthan the house, are they safe for exploration.
i would say school, but even there the monsters lurke. Either teachers
that act inappropriatly or the bullies that roam the halls looking for
kids to target for terror.
What will the next years be like for our kids?
How safe will things be for our grandkids?

update
Michael has lost the weight…so thrilled about that, our romance has gotten back on track and things are getting back to basics. i couldn’t be happier and i’ve been working over the holidays.
today I love my life. im on the right meds for the depression, though its taken almost a year to get there, that was a rough year, but i can now manage the depression and work through it, it doesnt seem to consume me like it used to. I have figured out that a good cry and a chat usually do the trick and restore things back to normal. either that or a good nights sleep. i have a few more friends in my life, some are old…some are new..both are welcomed.
Beanie seems to be making new friends as well, which is nice. she used to be like me wheni was going through the first round of depression, she was reclusive and that made it hard for her to make friends, but sicne i’ve changed, so have both the kids. they are happier and easier to be around. i know that most of it started and ended with me, that the kids become what we are and that mekes getting through things harder. If i cant help myself, how can i help those around me, including the kids?
i even got the husband to do some research to help him deal with what i am dealing with on a daily basis..they say a little knowledge is dangerous, int his case it turned out to be the truth. for a brief moment in time Michael thought I was bi-polar. nope, just your run of the mill depression. good, one less thing for me to stress over! I’ve gotten loads of support from both friends and family, even the kids are noticing when i have a bad day and they hug me and make it all better.
the fair has come and gone, as has my mom and michael's dad is coming over for a day to hang...awsome. the kids are excited, as they should be. it's always great to see family...and friends.
home
The kids are home wtih me now since my hours got cut from 36+ to 16hrs a week. I work 8 on fri and 8 on saturday. makes for a rough weekend, but i get the best of both worlds. I get to work and i get to hang with the kids and the husband.
it has been hard having them both home, but we are all adjusting to the idea.
it's all good. i have connnected my phone to this blog so that i can update it as current as I manage to keep facebook updated. i know this kind of dropped off the planet, but the holidays are over and things can go back to normal. I have even gotten back into reading books again. I miss the books, my poor nook has been so underused it's scary. that will change, nook, i promise i will wear you out.
