It's official. Beanie has moved into a booster seat.
She fits is perfectly. No issues with the seatbelt or anything. She is so proud of her new seat as are we.
Scooter is very jealous...poor boy....I'm not readdy for him to grow up yet.
Did i mention that beanie is in a booster seat? I remember just yesterday she was coming home for the hospital...then going forward facing....where is the time going?

The boy
I used to snuggle with beanie. I would read her a book and tell her all the things she did right that day, then i'd snuggle with her for a few moments as she fell fast asleep.
This is how it should be...this is NOT how it is with the boy.
Hubby started snuggling with the boy just as I snuggled with beanie. The problem came when Michael had to work late one night and I put th ekids to bed. See, when the kids go to bed, I have mommy time. So i do laundry, dishes, watch tv, knitting...or most day, go to bed. Logan didnt seem to like this.
he would stand at his gate screaming. He would kick the gate against the door frame, kick his door into the wall, throw toys...and anything else he could think of. this went on for months...yes, months.
until.......I saw an episode on Super Nanny. So now, I read a book to both kids, hug them and walk him to bed. I tuck him in and wait at the door. When he gets up (which he always does) I walk him back to bed without saying a word (which is very hard for me). I wait by the door until he settles in...about 7 min or so...then i go about my usually nighttime stuff. the major difference, i don't close the gate until i go to bed. This seems to have stopped the tantrums and he goes to bed quicker.
Who would have thought. It's just too bad that it took me months to find this out.

parenting
after reading battle hymn of the Tiger mother...I realized a few things.
A-my kids have little respect for me most of the time.
B-i need to change how i do things
So tonight at McDonalds.....I did. Beanie threw her coins(not real) because she wasnt getting icecream for fighting with her brother. Her favorite thing to say is "you're nasty". This she picked up from school..how nice.
anyway...she threw her coins on the ground and for once I didnt go back to get them. i guess I'm tired of them throwing things either at me or down in anger. They need to learn that these things will stay there...that there are consequences to what they do with their things.
Is this punishment too harsh? am I over-reacting or should we have been doing this all along. Have I taught me kids to disrespect me? Is it too late to instill the fear of mommy in them?

Easter Bunny weekend
Easter weekend started out with Church on friday night (to make room for others on sunday...and they had some cool activities for the kids after service). Then on to burgers for dinner.
Saturday morning I popped out of bed at 7am...took beanie with me to get free trees from Lowes for Earth day and picked up a few other things while we were there. Then home to fill some eggs for the egg hunt at 10am that's put on by our neighborhood every year.
The kids had a blast. Logan shook the eggs to see if it made noise, if it didnt, he put it back assuming it was empty. Beanie did great. She even helped some other smaller kids look for eggs after she was all done.
Off to lowes again for my new faucets for the master sinks...that was a nightmare, but they look awsome.
Sunday friends came over and had Easter breakfast with us, bringing with them the kids baskets. It was awsome that Jen made the kids baskets. She did an awsome job. Games, tattoos, and ofcourse...candy. Thank Jim and Jen...we all appriciate what you do for the kids.
and then there's monday...blah
